When young, she was extremely naive and the worst case scenario was always a second thought. Kotone has severe RSD, so any sort of setbacks wrecks her.

Quick breakdown of Kotone's journey. HGSS timeline-Adjacent, there a few major changes!Before [DURING KANTO EVENTS]
-Kris and Kotone, kids from New Bark Town, are getting ready to embark on their own adventure very soon. These two are friends with Hibiki as well. Kotone was closer to Hibiki then Kris.
-Kris always wanted to be a professor, and did much studying before departing. She spent most of her times in her room doing research.
-Kotone, on the other hand, was much more invested in having an adventure, seeing new sights, exploring new grounds. She wanted to go in blind, but Kris insisted she needed to take time on studying at least a couple of Pokémon. That's when the two did some studying on Hoothoot together, the one Kotone will name Mr. Ocax.
-Kris was going to set out on her journey first, then Kotone sometimes after. However, this ends up getting delayed when Team Rocket caused havoc in Kanto. For everyone's safety, the professor did not give out any Pokémon or Pokedexes to trainers.
-During this delay period, Kris did more studying and Kotone joins in. This time, it was about type match-ups
-Finally, after maybe a year or so, Kris embarks on her journey and choosed [REDACTED].
-Kotone keeps in touch with her on the Pokegear.BEFORE [KRIS'S DISAPPARENCE / AFTER KANTO EVENTS]
-All is well. Kotone will be setting out soon and Kris has been keeping her updated.
-Team Rocket has fallen thanks to many Kanto trainers. Notable ones include Leaf, Elaine, and Red. Also, Elite Four Lorelei.
-Team Rocket was now a thing of the past, and Kris is on her way into defeating the Indigo league.
-Kris formed to be a talented trainer, seen worthy by Suicune, and recognised by Professor Oak himself.
-She faced the Indigo League and on her way home, until…she, vanished?
-Signs were up, people talked, and there’s no traces of Kris. Many trainers and officers tried their best to look, but failed to find any clues.
-The news arrived to New Bark TownBEFORE —> BEGINNING
-Kotone’s journey was delayed, or done for according to her. She stayed in her room, grieving, and believing that her sister was dead.
-Elm had plans to give Kotone an Eevee egg to care for, but was stolen.
-Hibiki visited her everyday to try and cheer her up, and saying to still try and travel like she dreamed of.
-More time passed, and Elm gives Kotone an “errand” to visit a house north of CherrygoveNEW BARK -> VIOLET CITY
-Kotone is given Cyndaquil for the errand. Their relationship was very rocky at first.
-Meets up with Oak, and they gave her a Pokeball.
-They bump into Silver, and the encounter doesn't go well. He yells, pulls her into a battle, and defeats Kotone with ease.
-Elm receives the Pokeball, and it contains a newly hatched Cleffa.
-He needed the Cleffa to study on baby Pokémon and friendships.
-Elm asks if Kotone is interested in traveling again and wants to keep Cyndaquil. She finally goes forth with her journey and brings her childhood Hoothoot.
-(Kris was the one who recevied Togepi, and Kotone did not want to take the Cleffa from Elm)
-She is VERY hesitant about battling because of her first encounter with Silver.
-Kotone arrives in Violet City, and catches Fluffy and Slippers down South
-She heads to Bellsprout tower and battles Silver on the top floor. Kotone won this one!VIOLET CITY -> ILEX FOREST
-She doesn't receive a Togepi Egg like in canon, but gifted a Soothe Bell instead
-Had an easy time going through Union Cave
-Kotone does everything in Slowpoke well and barely defeats Proton, who successfully stole her Cyndaquil. This wrecks the trainer
-Kotone is in shambles and unsure if she will ever get Cynders back. She had no idea where Proton went after that incident, or the rest of Team Rocket
-She does defeat Bugsy though
-Meets up with Silver again and REALLY did not want to battle. Somehow won...?ILEX FOREST -> ECUTREAK CITY
-At this point, Kotone feels defeated about her starter and going through the motions
-Catches an Aipom (Ari) and Heracross (Hera) from Headbutting trees

-Kotone considers stopping gyms entirely and only doing this, but she has to find Cynders first

-Reunites with Cynders (who is now a Quilava) in the Dance Theatre
-Meets Eusine and Morty in the Burned Tower, then Silver. They battle, but it was cut short when the floor collapsed below them, and they encounter the Legendary Beasts

-Kotone decides to keep going with her gym battles and try to defeat Team Rocket
-Returns to Goldenrod briefly and finds Eevee in the Underground, names him Nebula. He was interested in the Soothe Bell

-She sees Silver leaving Olivine Gym and they battle, Kotone loses

-Kotone discovers Nebula the Eevee was supposed to be gifted to her until stolen by Team Rocket. Poor thing is afraid of the base but knew the secrets of the Rocket Base
-Everything goes rather smoothly, she kicked everyone's arse, Kotone is hecking pissed! Cynders was in front
-Almost died though!!
-She meets up with Silver, who just defeated Petrel. The two follow the Mukrow together, and she opens the door.
-Instead of Arianna and a Grunt, it's Arianna and Proton. And then Kotone and Silver tag battle instead of Kotone and Lance.
-This is fun cause! Silver is facing his Mom he dislikes and Kotone is facing the Rocket Executive who stole her starter! Fight fight fight! Lance and Leaf are around too, just not present for the battle
-Nebula evolves into an Umbreon during the battle
-They calm the Electrodes, then Kotone catches the Murkrow who helped them. Her name is now Sonata.
-Silver leaves, then Kotone meets up with Lance and Leaf. The two tell Kotone to face Pryce and they will contact her when they find out more about TR.
-Defeats PryceTEAM ROCKET ARC IN GOLDENROD
-Contacted by Lance and Leaf to head to Goldenrod. In order to get into the radio tower, she disguises herself as a Rocket Grunt with Granbull (Tai) and/or Golbat (Beatrice) in front, since TR never seen them.
-Made it pretty far into the Radio Tower! Until seeing Silver and her cover was busted. She apologises, a lot, but also quite upset that Silver would believe she would join TR.
-Petrel blows up part of the Radio Tower, Kotone almost dies again (she's fine)TEAM ROCKET ARC IN UNDERGROUND
-Leaf, Whitney, and Hibiki are taking the Goldenrod residents to safety, and Kotone goes to the Underground.
-Once again meets up with Silver and convinces them to team up. They have a common goal, so it worked out. Some disputes here and there, but battled well together.
-They find the Real Director, get the card key, and split up when returning to the Radio Tower
-Silver tells Kotone that she shouldn't try and fight the remaining TR members in the Tower, as it only gets worse from here. Too stubborn to listen, and climbs the Tower again.
-Throughout this, Kotone pushed away her bright attitude and only focused her entire attention taking down TR.-After defeating Archer, the executive caused an explosion before retreating. Cynders protects her and Kotone doesn't remember anything after that. She wakes up a couple of days later in a hospital and the Director thanks her with a Silver Wing.
-Kotone is in the hospital for a bit, thinking about what to do next. She has seven badges, might as well get the last one
-Cynders evolved into a Typholosion after all of this
-Oh yeah, Leaf is there for a bit and then returns to Kanto when Kotone heals. "Visit me in Kanto one day!!" she said
-Also, Silver found Kotone in the debris after the explosion, then disappears when she's somewhere safe.BLACKTHORN CITY

-Catches a Delibird (Muffin) in Ice Path

-There is five Ladies and Kotone has five Pokémon, so they had 1v1 battles. They wanted to test not only her strength but her bond between her partners.
-The Kimono Girls were very impressed by the trust and love Kotone's Pokemon had for their trainer, especially Cynders (who hated her at first) and Nebula (who had a hard time trusting humans cause of Rocket)
-After (barely) defeating them, she receives the Clear Bell
-All of them then travel to Whirl IslandsLUGIA EVENT
-Believing that Kotone is pure of heart, Lugia wishes to battle her. Same as the Kimono Girls, it wanted to test her strength and bonds.
-Lugia, being in awe by the relationship Kotone and her teammates have, gave her a gift after the battle.
-This gift was an Egg, she finally gets an egg. And Lugia knows it'll be raised well under Kotone's care.
-To this day, she does not understand why she was deemed special, as many were a better suit than her.ELITE FOUR AND CHAMPION
-Battles Silver in Victory Road and wins! Kotone finally asks if they could be friends and uuuh, that didn't happen sadly. Still rivals though! And on slightly friendlier terms
-Kotone loses the Elite 4 twice, but still goes ahead and tries again for a third. She wins and defeats LanceTHE CELEBI/PICHU EVENT
-Both are mixed into two. Its the Celebi event but the Pichus are there for the ride (and Hibiki!)
-This happens sometime before her departure to Kanto
-Witnessed an Event in Sliph Co (Giovanni and Archer being defeated)
-Witnessed the Giovanni and Silver scene. "Oh, that's his Father?!"
-They meet with Giovanni in Tohjo Falls, and he states that mere minutes ago he was facing a trainer that looked similar to Kotone (It was Kris). The two still battle, and she wins!
-This means! While Kotone was travelling up the Radio Tower, Kris found Giovanni and fought him. Where she is now is still completely unknown.
-Kotone had no strong reaction about Silver's father being the boss of Rocket. It's more of a "That makes sense why he hates them" and brushes it off. Never mentions it with Silver, there's honestly no need.
-The Pichus stay in Ilex Forest and sometimes ventures to New Bark.KANTO
-After the boat ride, she is greeted by Leaf!! As a "welcome/congrats on being champ gift", she gives Kotone Bulbasaur, now named Rex.
-Kotone adored travelling through Kanto. It felt so new and fresh, and didn't have to worry about Team Rocket! Well, once, but it was very minor. She was really really happy!!
-Goes off and collects the Kanto badges! (In order)
-Finds Silver on Mt. Moon and the battle results in a draw. They are on pretty good terms now.
-During the journey, her egg hatches, and it's a Lugia, named Lulu.
-Kotone meets up with a trainer from Hoenn (May). She tells her a bit about Mega Evolution and gifts her a Mudkip, now named Puddles.
-After collecting all eight Kanto badges, Kotone is requested to climb Mt. Silver. She finds Red, defeats him, and successfully gets him off the mountain. He is not the final boss
-After everything, Leaf meets up with Kotone again. She is amazed by the younger trainer's strength and accomplishments, so she gives her one more present- a battle!! The results of said battle...is a mystery! But it was a damn good one.PRESENT
-Challengers for the Indigo League are few, since many prefer going to Galar for them.
-Kotone sticks to her solid team of five and sometimes throws in Rex. She doesn't use any items in battle. Every now and then she rotates to other Pokemon (if they are comfortable)
-Very often, Kotone will spend days in Whirl Islands so Lulu can be free from it's Pokeball. To this day, no one knows about Lulu besides the Kimono Girls
-She tries to find any clues to where Kris might be
-Buddies with Leaf! Adores her so much.

Family
Mother // Kotone and her mother used to be very close until Kris went missing. Their relationship grew distant, and they do not talk much. The two still care for one another, but her Mother doesn't really...see Kotone as Kotone anymore, and compares/always mentions Kris when they're together.Kris // Kotone's elder sister. Looks up to her a lot and talked to her about everything until she disappeared.
She's absolutely perfect, the best sister Kotone could ask for. Extremely smart, and always striving to learn more each day about Pokemon. Determined in her dream of being a Professor, ready to help anyone in need, what more could you ask for? Kotone wished she could one day be as reliable as her, even a little. Everyone can rely on Kris for serious situations, if only it was the same for her.
However, sometime after Kris disappeared, there was some one-sided resentment. Everyone compared Kotone to Kris or see Kotone as a gateway to know more about her older sister. She knows it's not Kris's fault, but gets her frustrated. Misses her greatly and still writes personal letters to her.
She does not know where her Kris is, safe to say she never will, but looks up to any other Kris's in alternative timelines, including Crystal. And worries for each one of them, just like a normal sister.Close FriendsHibiki // Her childhood friend who knows her like the back of their hand. They used to never leave each other's side when they were younger, and wised to take on a Pokémon Journey together. That was never the case, since they decided to follow different paths. They started off in terrible terms, and then Kotone tries to befriend him later on. That fails, several times. The two share a solidarity with hating Team Rocket and worked together taking them down, but it is unsure if she considers him a friend. She will stick to the term rival.
But, despite their confusing relationship, Kotone cares for them deeply. Learned a lot about herself through their rather harsh words, and is able to be up on her toes because of Silver. Wants to get closer to them, so so so bad, but scared to.
She never cared about Silver being Giovanni's (and Ariana's) kid. It never changed her feelings about SilverGold // Ah, Gold and Hibiki and Ethan are different perople, right? Must be. Well, Kotone cannot stand Gold...at all. Gets on her nerves and will punch him in the gut when she gets the chance.
There is moments where they get along well, a little too well, and it's odd. It's common for them to have 1v1 battles with their Typhlosions.Leaf // A role model? A friend? A crush she had at some point? All of the above. Out of all of the "Kanto Gang", she is the closest with Leaf. The two formed a nice friendship during the Team Rocket fisaco, then stayed in touched afterwards. She really likes Leaf! Admires her in more ways than one and truly just happy to meet her. Cynders the Typhlosion

Kotone's Starter Pokemon. They had a rough start because of their clashing personalities, and the fire-type believed they wouldnt be a good match. Cynders opinion changed when she was kidnapped by Team Rocket and Kotone did everything they could to get her back.
Because of the several incidents they've had with Team Rocket and company, she's become very protective over Kotone. If there is a slight hint of tension, she is ready to strike any minute. Cynders LOATHES Team Rocket and learning how to tolerate Silver.
Seen as very stern and hard to approach, but has a soft side. Adores kids and baby Pokémon, rivals with Silver's Feraligatr and Gold's Exbo. Much larger/taller than an average Typhlosion.
Mr. Ocax the Noctowl
Keen Eye // ♂ // Aro // Quiet Nature, likes to relax
Kotone's Childhood Pokémon. He watched both her and Kris grow up and always kept a close eye on them both. Before Kris left on her journey, she told Mr. Ocax to watch over Kotone, and he held on to that promise.
Known for being the calmest member and keeps everyone in check, just like Fluffy. Mr. Ocax works as a support in battles and an expert at making opponents flinch. He still stands on one foot like a HootHoot.
Taller than an average Noctowl and can easily carry others on his back.
Fluffy the Ampharos

A very sweet lady who takes care of anyone in need. Fluffy doesn't like being the centre of attention and grows flustered from any sort of praise. She is very in tune with Kotone and company's emotions and tries to see the good in everyone. Very motherly and kind-hearted and childhood friends with Slippers. Always in the front when it comes to catching Pokémon.
A very special Ampharos! She lives up to her name with a very fluffy torso and ear tuffs!
Slippers the Quaqsire
Water Absorb // ♂ // Pan // Relaxed Nature, loves to eat
The silliest little guy who enjoys making everyone around him happy. Slippers is EXTREMELY bulky and can take a hard hit with no problem. He's saved Kotone from many close battles and a master at taking down Lance. When not battling, he is seen eating almost anything or relaxing with Fluffy.
Despite everything that went on with Kotone and company, Slippers reminded happy for everyone and tried his hardest to keep everyone's spirits up.
Nebula the Umbreon

This fella had a past. He was originally going to be given to Kotone as an egg to study on breeding and friendship evolution. He was stolen by Team Rocket before hatching.
Nebula was raised by a Rocket Member [REDACTED]. He loved them very much, but was tossed asided for being "too weak". Nebula ended up bouncing from Rocket member to Rocket member until they grew tired and left him in Goldenrod. Kotone found him in the underground and joined her team.
Very spoiled and affectionate towards others. He enjoys messing with Cynders and fond of Kotone's friends. Nebula has a fear of Persian and Weezing.
A VERY FLUFFY Umbreon. He grew out his fur! And you cannot see his eyes.
Lulu the Lugia

Lulu's existence is confidential
After defeating Lugia, Kotone received an egg from the sea guardian, then hatched during her travels in Kanto. Lulu is kept secret for its own safety. If anyone found out about baby legendary Pokémon existing, they would most likely take it away from Kotone. Only the Kimono Girls know about Lulu.
Very playful and basically. A Baby. It hates being kept secret and wishes to battle like everyone else. Kotone takes Lulu to Whirl Islands during their freetime.
Lulu and Kotone have a hard time meeting eye to eye. The two often have disputes and outbreaks because of...well, everything! Being "chosen", kept secret, so on and so forth.
Lulu sees Fluffy and Slippers like its parents, and plays with Nebula often.
Rex the Venusaur

The "sixth" team member. He was a welcome gift from Leaf when Kotone arrived to Kanto. As a Bulbasaur, he was very shy and felt out of place in the team. He got over those feelings about three Kanto badges later.
An extremely fast learner and as bulky as Slippers.
He wishes to only participate in few league battles, too much pressure for Rex. Always on board for regular trainer battles.
